Specializing in Mexican cuisine with a café and bar twist, this local gem offers a rich menu that showcases traditional favorites and innovative takes on beloved dishes.
From the moment you walk in, the lively aromas of roasted chiles, fresh tortillas, and sizzling meats fill the air — setting the stage for a truly satisfying meal. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, each menu item is crafted with care and bold, layered flavors that keep guests coming back for more.
Start your day with hearty breakfast options like Analita’s Breakfast, featuring three soft tacos packed with zesty chorizo, eggs, creamy sour cream, and smooth slices of avocado. The Migas con Salsa Jalapeno Rostisado offers a delightful crunch with scrambled eggs mixed with crispy corn chips and a smoky roasted jalapeño salsa that dances on your palate. If you're craving something comforting, the Chilaquiles & Eggs, topped with your choice of red chile or spicy green sauce, bring a perfect balance of heat and tang.
At lunch, the freshness intensifies with crisp, bright salads like Suzie’s Salad — a refreshing mix of chopped lettuce, tomato, cilantro, cucumber, and avocado tossed in a zesty citrus lime dressing — and the cactus-infused Cactus Salad that offers a uniquely Mexican twist. For heartier fare, the Burrito Tradicional is a generous flour tortilla cradling your choice of guisado, paired with rice, beans, and fresh toppings that will satiate any appetite.
Dinner at El Burrito Mercado transforms into a festive experience with must-try plates such as the Molcajete de Carnes Mixtas, a sizzling stone mortar bowl brimming with tender mixed meats and bold spices, or the celebrated Birria Tacos and Quesabirria Tacos whose rich, slow-cooked meat and melted cheese combination create an indulgent bite. Don’t miss out on the Mole Con Pollo Platter, where tender chicken is smothered in a complex, velvety mole sauce that’s both earthy and slightly sweet. Pair these dishes with their perfectly crispy, all-natural stoneground corn chips accompanied by homemade roasted tomatillo and chile arbol salsas for a truly immersive dining experience.
Alongside the savory delights, the dessert selection offers sweet, authentic Mexican pastries including flan and pan dulce, rounding out your meal with comforting, nostalgic flavors.
Guests repeatedly praise El Burrito Mercado for its attentive service and warm hospitality. Nick Halpaus raves, “All the right spices and flavors you will be looking for at an affordable price and your belly is full and happy.” Loyal visitor Molly H shares how the food keeps her coming back, noting the “hot and delicious” to-go options and her favorite green salsa’s just-right heat level for Minnesota palates. While one reviewer mentioned a brief rough spot with initial customer guidance, the excellent food and charming patio atmosphere more than make up for it, highlighting the restaurant’s inviting, community-centered vibe.

It’s a destination that appeals to both casual diners and Mexican cuisine aficionados alike, ensuring that every visit feels like a flavorful celebration.
Had a great time out to dinner. We will definitely be back again soon. Thank you for the awesome food and wonderful hospitality. All the right spices and flavors you will be looking for at an affordable price and your belly is full and happy.
we came in through the grocery store. the people up front were a little rude but it’s understandable because we didn’t know where we were going. very good food, incredible patio— can’t wait to try it again. the guacamole was to DIE for
This place is incredible. We got the steak chimichanga and it came with rice and beans. We also got the chip and dip trio which was equally as impressive. Overall the only complaint if I was being picky is that for almost $15 the chips and dip came with only a very small bag of chips so we actually had to buy more. But overall its very good!
Service and food are good. The food came out quickly
Always very good! My husband and I love shopping here. The to go food is hot and delicious. I love the shrimp burrito, the rice, and queso. Their chips are also very tasty. Came in for breakfast on a Sunday too and had a delicious breakfast burrito with rice and beans. The green salsa is delicious, has a bit of heat, but not too spicy for this Minnesotan. My husband had the breakfast torta and liked it, but said he would try something else next time.
Amazing staff, friendly and helpful! It's hard to go through this place without a guide (if you're not familiar with Mexican fare) but the team here are patient and friendly! I bought churros, choco flan and chicharron! There's so many more to explore that I'm saving for the next trip. Certainly worth a try and you can relax at the bar after shopping!
A real gem nestled in a vibrant and bustling neighborhood. When I moved to Minnesota, this was one of the first places I tried, and I was blown away by its large grocery selection, charm, and great food. I haven’t been back in over 10 years, since it’s not too close to me, but I decided to go back this weekend. It didn’t disappoint! I’d highly recommend checking out Raspberry Island’s Alebrijes exhibit (June-October 2025), and then heading here for lunch and a few groceries. The patio is definitely to place to sit. They also have an elote stand out back! I enjoyed my coffee and burrito, and I left the restaurant feeling full and with my arms full of groceries.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE El Burito. They have some of the best Mexican food in Minneapolis and one of the best pozoles around !
